Since a Dutch retailer called ‘Zeeman’ produced a wedding dress for only €29,99, everyone is lyrical about cheap wedding outfits for brides. And even though I will never get rid of the thought of my favourite Vera Wang dress, I have to say that I like the fact that you can dress yourself for your own wedding with a lot less money and still look good!
But where does this trend come from? Personally, I think people are not as traditional anymore as they were before. They prefer a holiday to explore the world over a wedding, or they start having kids and marry afterwards, but on a smaller scale. And I don’t blame them!
Let’s see what the stores have to offer for bride-to-be’s!
Top & skirt
My favourite wedding trend is the one where you can really create your own wedding gown: choose your own top and combine it with a skirt you love. If you like to keep it young, find a crop top of your choice and wear it with a high waisted skirt. Create a classy look by choosing lace, satin or other sophisticated fabrics and wear it with a skirt that is not too short. If you want to have a more playful look, choose a tule skirt.
For the ones that like a classic dress, there’s also a lot of choice in the lower price range. The simpler the dress, the better (and cheaper)!
A short dress would not be everyone’s first choice, but there are a lot of great options if you ask me. Plus, it’s easier to dance in! Wear it with classy heels or comfy flats. To finish it off, you could choose for a flower headband.
The real trendsetters can pull off a wedding jumpsuit: feminine if you wear one with lace and satin, funky if you wear a seventies suit like Solange Knowles.
Where to buy
Thinking about buying an affordable wedding dress of suit? Try the Wedding shop of ASOS.com, BHLDN or J. Crew. Soon there will be many more wellknown retailers that have their own wedding department!
And… Have you already decided what you would do with the money you have left after buying the dress?
