And… We’re back! For months, I didn’t have enough inspiration to write blog posts, but here we are again, with some summer favourites!
Favourite workout: The Bootcamp Club
A few weeks ago, I started with some bootcamp lessons at The Bootcamp Club in my hometown Utrecht for free. First I have to say, I’m not a real workout type. If I go home and sit on the couch, I’m done for the day and don’t want to go to the gym anymore. But the Bootcamp Club has definitely changed something (and maybe also the fact that people are joining me). It’s actually fun to go to the park for a workout, as you’re there with a bunch of other people who are in for some social talk and a workout. Every week, the trainer has different exercises to offer, and sometimes, it also includes a small game. I’m really thinking about getting a subscription after I finish my free lessons, because I’m finally working out on a regular base.
Favourite clothing piece: H&M ruffle skirt
On a hunt for a last-minute festival outfit at H&M, I found this striped ruffle skirt on one of the racks. Even though there was a lot of sale at this time, I – of course – found something for the full price. I did decide to buy this skirt, as I could wear it to the festival, but it would also be appropriate for work days in summer. I like to combine it really simple, with a white T-shirt and some white sneakers, but if you ask me, you can make it as wild as you want to.
Favourite app: Duolingo
I have a knack for languages, so exploring this app and enjoying everyday’s lesson of 10 minutes is really fun to me (nerd alert). I chose Spanish, as I haven’t had this language at school and it might be helpful for travelling. The app is divided in different themes, which all include 4 lessons that all take about 5 minutes to finish. For example, in Spanish you have themes called ‘Animals’, ‘Questions’ or ‘Possesion’. After accomplishing a few themes, you also get the ability to chat with a robot. While chatting, the app can give you examples of how to respond to certain questions. If you want to rehearse some words, you can always go back to the theme and repeat some of the most important words of the theme.
Favourite restaurant: LE:EN
I visited this Asian tapas restaurant a few weeks ago with some colleagues, and even though I already had high expectations on forehand, it was a really good night! Not only because of the rose gin tonics, but the food: wow! It’s all about shared dining and every dish had it’s own specific flavour. Chicken curry, dimsum, sushi, spicy edamame beans: it was all just really good. And you’re all eating this in an industrial warehouse, where you can enjoy some great wall paintings. Even though the venue is huge, you don’t have the feeling it’s full of people (even though it is on a regular Friday night). A real recommendation!
Favourite shoes: Spanish slippers
While on a shopping spree (again), I found these Spanish floral slippers at Stradivarius and have worn them a lot ever since. I don’t have many eye-catcher shoes; normally I just go with black (always a good idea) – or white – if it involves sneakers. These slippers are a fun to wear, because it brightens up every dull outfit. A good purchase!
Those were my summer favourites of this year. I promise I will keep up with my posting, even though it might not be every week. I’ll keep you posted!
