Oh yes, it’s already spring: my favourite season of the year! Not only because my birthday is coming up, but also because the sun shows up more often and it’s still light when I’m done working. Therefore, I love to spend time with friends on a terrace drinking wine and getting tanned. And because there’s a new season, there’s also a new ‘favourites’.
Favourite food hotspot: Plato Loco
I thought I had all the Amsterdam hotspots on my bucketlist, but when my roommate took me to a small Carribean restaurant in the city center, I knew that I just can’t keep up with it. Because of the small size of the restaurant, Plato Loco has an intimate atmosphere with extreme friendly staff, which is quite hard to find in Amsterdam. And then the food: amazing! We all went for the Jamaican Jerk chicken, which was marinated for 24 hours. Served with rice, coleslaw and baked banana it was not a typical Dutch restaurant dish, but therefore it was oh so tasty!
Favourite song: The Chainsmokers – Roses
I don’t know if this is a song that many people know already, but when I heard this one a few weeks ago, I immediately liked it. It’s a song you can relax on, but it also gives me so much energy and happy vibes that it even makes doing the dishes fun.
Favourite swimwear: Sam Friday bikini
Even though I’m a shopaholic at heart, I don’t buy bikini’s very often, but because I have a three-week summer holiday planned, I figured I should buy a new one. When I found Sam Friday on the internet, I fell in love with almost every item on the website, and because there are so many ways to combine the bikini’s with each other, I just got a kind of choice stress: which one should I choose? I decided to go to the store in Amsterdam, but accidentally found a SF store in Utrecht. After a long fitting session, I chose this bandeau bikini, because it was the best model for me and blue is always a good colour. The whole store had 20% discount, so I couldn’t resist to buy two bikini bottoms. I can’t wait to wear it for the first time!
Favourite food: homemade salad
Since I bring my own lunch to work, I like to variate with toppings for crackers and salads. Lucky me, because I live near a really big supermarket, where they have a great range of salad toppings. Sprouts, beans, bags with baby spinach and kale, small beets, nuts: you name it and they have it. These are my favourite combinations:
- Spinach, lentils, cherry tomatoes, alfalfa and feta cheese
- Lettuce, quinoa, cucumber, olives and feta cheese
- Kale, chickpeas, beets, beet sprouts and goat cheese
