Happy new year! I hope you all had a great New Year’s Eve. As it is the new year now, we probably all have some new year’s resolutions. Although it might be a little cliche, because who needs a new year to make new resolutions, I believe it really works for some people like that. The challenge is to remain these new year’s resolutions and not to stop after you think you’ve done enough already. Every year I create a list for myself too, just to remind me of things I find important for the upcoming year.
Get a new place to live
I’m planning on leaving Amsterdam and move to Utrecht, but because it’s harder to find a new place than I thought it would be, I’m already looking for places for over half a year now. The reason I want to move is simple: it’s closer to my work and to my family, which makes it easier to just stop by in the weekends. I’m in love with Amsterdam, but Utrecht is a central place to live and – luckily – still a big city. The thing is that I have to make time for searching homes and really put some effort in it. That’s why I add it to my New Year’s resolutions list!
Buy less clothes
Yes, you read that well. I just sorted out my whole closet and I have given 3 huge bags of clothing to the Salvation Army. I can tell you that there was a lot of clothing in there I had bought just half a year ago. It’s a waste of money and time and I simply don’t have much space to store clothing. That’s why I think it might be a good idea to just buy more basics and not to get clothing which I’m not 100% sure of.
Find a new gym
For the past two years, I had a subscription to a gym in my neighborhood, but after a while of training twice a week, I was fed up with it and didn’t go that much anymore. It even got to a point that I didn’t go for three months and then thought: well, maybe I should go again some time. To me, that was just throwing away my money, so I decided to quit. For the new year, I want to find another gym, where I can go to once a week, because with a busy schedule and those dark winter nights, I don’t like to go more than that. Maybe I will get a subscription for more times in the week when it becomes summer, but for now I’ll stick with this.
Travel destinations in 2017
Things I can really look forward to, are the holidays I have planned. Last month, I booked my holiday to Sri Lanka, where I will be spending 3 weeks in the end of March and the beginning of April. It will be the first time travelling all by myself, so I’m obviously excited about that! But before that, I will go on a skiing weekend trip with my family in France, which I think is also a great way of celebrating holidays. And maybe, I will add another far destination to the upcoming year, but those are still wild plans!
