Last week has probably been one of the first summer weeks of this year in Holland, but as we’re already heading to the fall, I found it interesting to highlight some of the biggest upcoming trends. We already know some of them, because they have become bigger since last year, but there are also some new kids in town. Let’s see what fabrics, colours and shapes we can expect!
First of all, the sportive trend. Now that everyone has embraced the sneaker (even underneath a dress it is socially acceptable), we are tending to take things a little further. I’m not talking about training suits or sweat pants, but normal clothing with a sportive twist. Jogging skirts and dresses, fancy trousers with stripes and, last but not least: bomberjackets. We’ve already seen them in spring, and this fall it will be bigger and better!
Just like last year, metallics are a hit! Especially the pleated skirt is a recurrend item in every store and runway show for F/W 2016. But also two-pieces, bomberjackets (here we are at the sportive trend again) and metallic tops were seen on the catwalks of Alexander McQueen, Fendi and Dolce & Gabbana. But no worries, Zara knows how to kill this trend too!
Yes, I love a little masculinity when it comes to fashion! A big sweater, a boyfriend jeans: when combined with a tighter piece of clothing you will never go wrong. The suit is a typical example: we’ve already seen it on many bloggers and now it’s taking over the rest of the people. Wear some trousers with sneakers and a T-shirt or add a classic jacket to a basic outfit.
The nineties are officially back! Not only because of the comeback of the choker, the denim skirt and the platform shoes, but also because velvet has finally returned from its hibernation. A perfect trend for the holidays, because this fabric gives every clothing piece a subtle classic twist, but a simple top or jacket is also easy to add to a daily outfit. But be careful, because velvet can easily be overdone.
