A new year, time for some new fashion trends! And although we just had snow in Holland, spring is already coming a little closer. Therefore, I find it very interesting to watch some trends that we will be seeing the upcoming season.
This season, it will be all about shapes: a-symmetric, extra small, extremely big and different cuts are key words. As always, the catwalks are overloaded with the craziest clothing combinations, but it’s easily translated to a more subtle, streetstyle look. Let’s see what spring has to offer us!
Seen at: Michael Kors, Philip Lim, Lacoste
We have had multiple ways to wear your sleeves (let’s mention the bell sleeves and extra wide sleeves), but this is a real new one: sleeve slits. A good way to show off your tanned arms in summer and nice to combine with a bunch of bracelets!
Seen at: Victoria Beckham, Alexander Wang, Marques Almeida
I have this thing with blouses and shirts, and the beginning of spring is always a moment where I go crazy with blouse shopping. This a-symmetrical thing is a typical trend I like, but I would definitely wear it a little more subtle. Tip: don’t want to buy a new blouse? Just button up your blouse the wrong way ;-).
Seen at: Valentino, Chloé, Hermès
When it comes to bags, it seems to be ‘the smaller the better’ (think: only possible to stick some cards in it). It’s the final touch of an outfit, despite of the size.
Seen at: Coach, Ralph Lauren, Anna Sui
A mix between black leather, animal prints and extraordinairy clothing pieces: this is the description for ‘the band’ look. A little grunge, but especially: just wear everything you want to wear and combine it together; nothing is too crazy. Buy a size bigger to create an oversized look, or choose a flared jeans to make a fashion statement.
Seen at: Celine, Altuzarra
When the temperature is increasing, it asks for flimsy shoes! This time, sandals with straps are the solution if it comes to fashion trends. With or without heel, in any colour and in every style; wear it with cropped jeans, loose slacks or a pleated skirt and you will have a perfect look.
Q: Do you already have a S/S17 wishlist?
